Comment to FCC re: Comcast’s & Time Warner Cable’s Merger Request

Announcement: On August 25, 2014, Morality In Media filed public comments with the Federal Communications Commission regarding the merger of Comcast and Time Warner Cable.

Morality In Media’s President Emeritus, Robert Peters, filed a comment outlining the fact that Comcast and Time Warner Cable are two major national distributors of hardcore pornography who have a callous regard for decency and the wellbeing of individuals and families. A merger between Comcast and Time Warner Cable may well likely result in even more hardcore pornography being poured into America’s homes.

We also filed a joint comment with Parents Television Council, Citizens for Community Values, American Decency Association, Morality In Media, Illinois Family Association, American Family Association of Pennsylvania and Janice Crouse, Ph.D.

In this public comment, we attempt to lay out the anti-consumer and anti-family effects we believe are made likely by the creation of such a dominant media conglomerate – and there are many. Simply put, this merger will have an profound effect on programming distribution, broadband access and deployment and, ultimately, entertainment content well into the future.
