A recent study of Christian men found that 54% of Christian men and 15% of Christian women admitted to viewing pornography at least once a month.
The study, conducted by the Barna Group and commissioned by Joel Hesch, president and founder of Prove Men Ministries, surveyed 1,000 Christian men. It found that of men between ages 18-30, 79% reported watching porn at least once per month, while 29% reported viewing it daily.
Hesch said of the study, “It needs to be openly addressed in the church, a safe place within the church. [Pornography] is addicting. It is a problem not just affecting individuals, but families. The church needs to be the front-runner in this. Heaping guilt and shame on a person only leads them to escape into the things we’re trying to rescue them from.”
Clearly, being religious is no guarantee against the harms of pornography.
