We are delighted to welcome Plusnet, one of Britain’s best-known internet service providers as it joins us to help amplify our wealth of advice and resource designed to help keep children safe online.
Plusnet will be working alongside our existing partners BT, Sky, TalkTalk, Virgin Media, BBC, Google, Facebook, EE, and Huawei to help families ensure their children enjoy connected technology smartly and safely.
Nice Device List Christmas campaign
To mark their new partnership, together with Plusnet we’re launching a campaign to help parents keep their children’s and any family members’ devices on Santa’s nice list, making the most of the full range of tools and settings available.
If you are planning to buy electronic devices this Christmas we’ve created a bespoke microsite – nicedevicelist.com – which hosts a quiz to test your knowledge of online safety, including topics such as parental controls and privacy settings.
A letter from Santa on digital safety
At the end of the quiz, you’ll be given the opportunity to download and print a letter for your child from Santa Claus himself on how to use devices safely and stay on Santa’s ‘nice’ list.
You can then give the letter to your child alongside their new device and also share the letter on social media with the hashtag #NiceDeviceList to promote the importance of using technology both safely and smartly.
The campaign is being backed by top social media bloggers this Christmas including those behind the parenting blogs Mudpie Fridays and Going on an Adventure, to increase the awareness of the campaign.
Carolyn Bunting, CEO of Internet Matters, said: “There continues to be a real demand among parents who want to know more about how to keep their children safe online.
“By partnering with Plusnet we are strengthening an industry collective with a common purpose, working together to improve children’s internet safety and empowering all parents and carers to help their children benefit from digital technology smartly and safely.”
Steve Wilson, Director of Commercial, Marketing and Digital at Plusnet said: “Helping families build digital resilience is something we care deeply about and we’re so pleased to be working with Internet Matters.
“We want to share their expert advice to help parents keep their children safe online.”
