Three has partners with us to help keep children safe online

We are delighted to welcome Three as a partner as it commits its support to guide both parents and children safely through the digital world.

The risk to child wellbeing online is evolving rapidly with almost 1 in 5 parents admitting their child has received cruel comments online. Our partnership will help to direct teenagers and parents alike, to a wealth of combined knowledge that is trustworthy, easily accessible and helps anyone that is regularly online, feel up to date and well informed.

Three committed to online safety

As pioneers of mobile data and more recently the “Phones are Good” debate, Three is committed to making a positive impact when it comes to internet and mobile protection for the younger generation. Three wants to help unlock all the benefits and fun of mobile devices through better understanding of some of the more negative aspects.

Encouraging safer mobile use

To deliver this education programme,  we will work collaboratively to create meaningful resources that address online safety concerns. Rather than discourage internet and mobile use, the resources will show that when used safely the online world can be a limitless resource of fun, education and empowerment.

As well as combining our expertise, we will look to bring our insight into its already successful Discovery programme – an in-store initiative which offers free training and workshops on digital and mobile technology to all individuals, communities and businesses, regardless of the age of network.

The first year of our partnership we’ll develop wider campaigns that will equip parents and teenagers with the knowledge and tools to help everyone enjoy the internet as safely as possible.

David Dyson, CEO at Three UK, said: “As a mobile operator we have a huge part to play in supporting parents and children to keep safe online. We felt it was important for us to become part of a trusted organisation such as Internet Matters, where we can share knowledge and collaborate with other members to ensure advice is easily accessible for the customer.

“We want everyone to enjoy the many benefits of mobile devices which far outweigh the negative aspects but we do recognise there is a dark side.  We believe that this partnership will enable us to create some meaningful resources and ways to help customers understand how to protect themselves and their children helping to build a safer mobile future for all.”

Carolyn Bunting, CEO of Internet Matters said: “At Internet Matters, we hear first hand from parents who want to know how they can help their children stay safe on mobile devices.

“We are delighted to be working with Three as we share the same belief that technology can have a hugely positive impact on young people when it is used both smartly and safely. We believe our partnership will allow us to empower parents to protect their children from any digital harms and reap the many benefits of the online world.”
