How to Enable Tik Tok Family Safe Mode

Following up
from our Five TikTok Safety Tips last month – Yes, a month is a long time in
the world of Social Media Apps, we’ve got some welcome news for parents.

As most of you already know, TikTok is The Most Popular App around at this moment in time in 2020. Kids are crazy for it and many children under the legal age of 13 are using it on a daily basis.

So all the more reason to be on the ball with protective tools.

Ok what does this actually mean and how can it help?

That’s a good
question. When it comes to user safety and digital wellbeing we’re always happy
to see new features or developments from popular platforms.  This time TikTok have included a ‘family
safety mode’ which can link a parent’s account to their child’s.

Taking
independent control is ultra important
now and  these new features provide
parents with the tools to help to do just that.

They focus on
3 Key areas:

  • Screen Time Management
  • Direct Messaging
  • Restricted Mode

How will it work?

According to
an article on TikToks website; Cormac Keenan, Head of Trust and Safety, EMEA
outlines ‘Family Safety Mode links a parent’s TikTok account
to their teen’s and once enabled, they will be able to control Digital
Wellbeing features, including:

  • Screen
    Time Management:
Control how long your teenager can
    spend on TikTok each day.
  • Direct
    Messages:
    Turn off
completely or limit who can send messages to your teenager.
  • Restricted
    Mode:
Restrict content which appears in the
feed as unsuitable or inappropriate for children.

How do I find these
settings and set it up?

Go right to our 5 minute Tutorial and I’ll take you through it.
