I was very fortunate to be invited to participate at the launch of National Cyber Security Awareness Week officiated by Senator Stephen Conroy, Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy on Sunday morning.
This is a great initiative designed to make us all think about what each of us can do to improve not only our own individual online security and safety, but how to help our family and friends stay safe. One important thing that many people forget is that grandparents are spending more and more time online too.
When was the last time you checked they had a good quality security software program loaded or doubled checked that they’re managing their privacy settings?
And it’s not just about being more security aware when we’re sitting at our home computer, what about your smartphone, or your child’s MP3 player, it’s a mobile internet device as well!
